Up Close and Personal... 'The Astronomer'

The Astronomer. The astronomer took a bit more out of me than usual even aside from the job interviewing, moving and other life stresses. I had to redo him a week into the design of the platform because of sheer design ugliness. You can see the original design below. I couldn't look at it anymore without seeing fat rolls and a can opener. It was wretched. (Let this be a lesson to the beginner artists out there... the first idea isn't always the best. ;} *sigh*)

Aside from this setback, scifi really isn't a memorized genre for me and I have found I've had to do a little more research to get the feel to behave. Fantasy is easy. I hardly have to reference much of anything aside from armor designs or the occasional skirt pleat. Science fiction, I'm convinced, takes a background in advanced physics and mechanical engineering.

Heheheh... no matter, I'm happy. It's done and for my first attempt at science fiction, I'll allow the glitches here and there. What do you think?
